Tree and plant planning lecture in DeFuniak Springs Nov. 1

October 30, 2023

Arbor Day in Florida is the third Friday in January. It is the optimum time to install new landscape plants, giving them the opportunity to establish before hot weather arrives. In 2024, Florida Arbor Day falls on Friday, January 19.  The Walton County Master Gardener Volunteers will have your pre-ordered plants ready for pickup on Friday, 1/19 and Saturday 1/20.

In preparation for ordering, we will have our Lecture Series feature Horticulture Agent, Evan Anderson and Forestry Agent, Ian Stone, who will present a program about the features of some of these plants. Which plants/trees need full sun, rich soil, low maintenance, and fit into your garden area? Are you interested in citrus and fruit trees?  Learn proper planting procedures for successful growth.  Join us on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 10:00 am at the DeFuniak Springs UF/IFAS Extension located at 732 N 9th Street.

Plant / price lists and order forms will be available.  The deadline for ordering is December 1.

Light refreshments will be served, and Master Gardener Volunteers will be on hand to help with gardening questions and soil samples.  Reservations are required.  Save your place by emailing waltonctymg@gmail.com and indicate whether you will be attending in person or via zoom.  For more information call 850-892-8172.
