Free hunter safety Internet-completion course in Bay County

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering a free hunter safety Internet-completion course in Bay County. The course will be held at the Gulf Coast State College North Bay Center, 637 Highway 2300, Southport, Room 101 of the Emergency Operations Center. Instruction will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students must complete the Internet course before coming to class and should bring a copy of the final report from the online portion of the course....

FWC offering additional hog-hunting opportunities for 2011 season

Aucilla and Blackwater WMAs offering hunts through Sept. Due to an abundance of wild hogs on portions of Aucilla and Blackwater wildlife management areas in Northwest Florida, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is encouraging hog hunters to take part in Small Game Area (SGA) hunts during the coming months in an effort to reduce number of hogs. FWC offers free hunter safety course in Okaloosa County

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering a free hunter safety course in Okaloosa County. The course will be at The Harbor, 4006 Highway 87 in Holley.  Instruction is from 6 to 9 p.m. April 18, 19, 20 and 21.  The range portion of the class will be April 23 from 8 to 11 a.m. An adult must accompany children under age 16 at all times.  Students should bring a pencil and paper with them to take...

National wildlife refuges offer special hunts

This fall, Northwest Florida offers some special deer and wild hog hunts at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) and a unique “big-game” sambar deer hunt on the island of St. Vincent NWR. The application period for these hunts begins at 10 a.m. May 3 and continues through 11:59 p.m. June 9.
