On Tuesday, October 18th, the Walton County Board of County Commissioners (WCBCC) hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Ghentsville Park, the only county park located in the city of Paxton. The project was designed and constructed in-house by the Walton County Public Works and Facilities Maintenance teams. Park amenities include two basketball courts, a playground, two pavilions, picnic tables, grills, restroom facilities, and parking.
On December 11, 2018, the WCBCC approved a donation agreement of an approximately 90-acre parcel of land located on the northwest corner of US Hwy 331 North and Clear Springs Road. On October 13th, 2020, the WCBCC approved a Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) FundingAgreement in the amount of $200,000.00 with DEP. Additional funding and in-kind services were also provided by the WCBCC to complete the project.
Ghentsville Park is located at 222 Clear Springs Road, Laurel Hill, and is officially open to the public.
