Get outdoors and enjoy birding this November with Choctawhatchee Audubon Society –
Nov. 2, 2023 – 6:30 p.m. Feathers, Focus, and Frames: Bird Photography in Okaloosa County by Jim Anderton

Visit and socialize with us and Jim Anderton who will talk about photography gear and techniques he uses to photograph birds in Okaloosa County. Learn about the local birding hotspots he visits as well as the birds he photographs. This Choctawhatchee Audubon program will take place on Nov. 2nd and be held at the Crosspoint Church in Niceville in Room 800 on the 2nd floor of the Chandler Center (NW door of 519 Helms St.), signs will lead you in. Socializing with refreshments begins at 6:30 p.m. and the program begins at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the interested public. Nov. 18, 2023 Saturday morning birding on Okaloosa Island. Leader Alan Knothe, 850-208-1780 will lead us through gulf hotspots including Veterans Park and other bayside spots in search of interesting species. Meet at 7:00 am at the Uptown Station, 99 Eglin Parkway NE (west side nearest Eglin Pkwy), Fort Walton Beach (city). Bring water and binoculars; wear appropriate clothing for sand and undergrowth (e.g., closed-toed shoes, long pants, and a hat).

Nov. 25, 2023 Saturday morning birding Destin beaches and birding spots. Join Bruce Purdy at 305-926-6030 in search of seabirds, shorebirds, and migrating songbirds. Meet at 7:30 a.m. in the Destin CVS parking lot at Hwy 98 and Main St., Destin opposite Regions Bank. Wear long pants & closed-toe shoes. Bring water, binoculars, and a scope, if you have one. You’ll need your free Eglin Beach Permit on eglin.isportsman.net.
