Beginning with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. and the annual ‘Possum Trot’ 5k Run, locals and visitors alike enjoy a full day of festivities, including the annual Possum Parade, Possum Auction and culminating at 8 p.m. with an old-fashioned square dance.
The square dance and other ‘retro’ aspects of the festival, including cross-cut saw contests, sack races and greasy pole contests, are indicative of a regional trend toward more family-friendly, heritage amusement.
To enter parade, participate in the Little Miss and Mister Funday Pageant, enter the King and Queen contest, or 5K run, go to www.wausaupossumfestival.com
