The Walton County Board of County Commissioners, in conjunction with Walton County Administration and Walton County Emergency Management, will be hosting a toiletry drive to help those who have been affected by the flooding in Louisiana.
The drive will be held from Friday, August 26th to Friday, September 9th.
Walton County Emergency Management has been in contact with organizations currently on the ground in Louisiana to help assess the items that are of the most critical need. With that information in hand, Walton County employees and any members of the public who would like to participate can donate the following items:
• Toothbrush
• Toothpaste
• Deodorant
• Wash Cloths
• Shampoo (travel sizes)
• Soap
• Feminine Hygiene Products
Due to the number of organizations assisting those in need, the following items are not currently needed and are requested not to be donated during this drive:
• Food
• Water
• Baby Supplies
• Clothing
If possible, it has been requested that items be placed in 1-gallon Ziploc bags by gender. If kits can be made for both men and women, it will allow for easier distribution to those who need them.
If you are unable to donate full kits, individual items will be accepted. Additionally, if it is easier, Walmart gift cards will also be accepted. The donation of gift cards will allow those receiving them to buy something tangible that may be personally needed and can be distributed quickly those who need it the most.
Collection centers have will be located at the following locations:
