Choctawhatchee River Section of the Florida National Scenic Trail now open

Dec. 14, 2016 – Tom Daniel, Trail Coordinator for the Choctawhatchee Chapter, Florida Trail Association has announced a new section of the Florida National Scenic Trail (FNST) in Walton County is now open. “Our volunteers have been working on this Florida National Scenic Trail (FNST) segment since 2009. 5K Family Hike at the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center Sept. 24

The E.O.Wilson Biophilia Center teams up with the Walton County Health Department for the Biophilia Center 5K Family Hike on Saturday, September 24th. Gates open at 7:00 a.m. and last hikers must begin trail by 8:30 a.m. Registration from 7:00-8:00 a.m. First Hikers hit the trail at 8:00 a.m. $5 per person or $20 per family. Point Washington Longleaf Greenway Western trail temporarily closed

April 5, 2016 – The Point Washington State Forest Longleaf Greenway Western Trail, also known as the Satinwood Trail will be closed to hikers/bikers for the next few weeks. A contractor for the Florida Forest Service is harvesting 85 acres of Sand Pine as part of a restoration effort. Once the logging operation is complete, the trail will reopen.
