Another great tournament in the books for Old Nick’s Redfish Round Up

Great weather brought in 50 teams of anglers competing for big prize money at the 13th Annual Old Nick’s Redfish Round Up on May 5. A huge crowd showed up for the weigh in at Nick’s Seafood Restaurant on Basin Bayou in Freeport. In addition to the competition, live music, and a kid’s mullet toss rounded out the day. FWC approves statewide changes to tripletail and sheepshead management

At its April meeting in Fort Lauderdale, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approved several changes to the management of tripletail and sheepshead. Changes go into effect July 1, 2018, and include: Tripletail: Increasing the minimum size limit from 15 to 18 inches total length. Extending all of the FWC’s recreational and commercial regulations for this species into federal waters (including the new size limit). Grandaddy of all catfish caught on Choctawhatchee River

This massive blue catfish is causing quite a splash, weighing over 1.7 times more than the current state record for this species (69.50 lbs.)!
