The Walton County Master Gardeners invite residents to attend a special lecture on fire scaping, an important landscaping technique that helps reduce the risk of wildfire damage. The event will take place on October 2, 2024, at 10 a.m. at 732 N 9th Street, DeFuniak Springs.
The lecture will be led by Aleese Maples, a mitigation specialist with the Florida Forest Service. Ms. Maples will offer expert advice on creating defensible spaces, selecting fire-resistant plants, and maintaining landscapes to better safeguard homes and properties from wildfire threats. Her efforts target schools, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and large residential areas, making this information crucial for all Walton County residents.
This free event, hosted by the Master Gardeners, is a perfect opportunity to learn how to make your home safer and more resilient against wildfires.
