Lakefest in DeFuniak Springs May 17 – 19

LakeFest is an annual festival in DeFuniak Springs, Florida celebrating sports and exercise on the water.  Held in Chipley Park on the banks (and on the water) of Lake DeFuniak, one of the world’s rare, naturally round spring-fed lakes.  The event will be held May 17, 18, 19, 2019. Activities include canoe, kayak and cardboard boat races, water demonstrations, booth exhibits, water slides, kids activities, 5k race and fun run, car show and live entertainment.  To participate or learn more about these individual events making up the weekend festival, select the link on the left side of this page of the activity about which you wish to learn more.

11 am until Sellout: Fish Fry. Amphitheater.

4-7 pm: Fishing Tournament. Boat Ramp, 95 Circle Drive

7:45 pm: Nighttime Hydroflight Show.  (behind Amphitheater)

7 – 10pm: Nighttime Kayak and Canoe Camping Course Advanced Registration Required.  Free.

7:30 pm – Midnight:  Bonfire. Next to Amphitheater.   

8pm-10pm:  Outdoor Movie“Bernie the Dolphin.” Amphitheater.

8:15 am – 9 am: Registration for Kayak/Paddle Board Races“LakeFest Command Post” (behind Amphitheater.)

9 am: Opening Ceremonies.  “Camp Jamboree”  (Amphitheater) 

9 am – 3:30 pm:  EVENTS & ACTIVITIES:

  • Butterfly Garden Tours, Library Garden
  • Camp Kayak
  • Camp Exploration
  • Camp Kids
  • Disc Golf. Check-in at DeFunk Disco booth among the street vendors
  • Trading Post (Food & Merchandise Vendors)

9:15 am:  Kayak/Paddle Board Races – “LakeFest Command Post”  (behind Amphitheater.)

10 am – 1 pm:  Nonie’s Petting Zoo Presentations Location TBA.

10 am – 2pm:  Antique Car Show and Public Voting.  Area in front of Train Depot.  Free.

10:45 am – 11 am:  Hydroflight Show – Behind Amphitheater.

11 am: Poker Paddle/Walk – LakeFest Command Post” – behind Amphitheater

11 am – 2 pm: Lucky Duck Hunt on the Water In the Water of Lake DeFuniak

Noon: Cardboard Boat Races Boat ramp next to Hall of Brotherhood.

1 pm:  Parade.  Circle Drive

2:15 pm:  AWARD PRESENTATIONS:  “Camp Jamboree” Ampthitheater

4 pm – 6 pm: Beginners Course for Kayaks, Canoe and Paddle Board Enthusiasts Free.  Advanced Registration Required or visit the American Kayaking Association’s booth during the day for space availability.
