March 9, 2022

The park’s historic district is recognized on the National Historic Register, and the property is sited along the bluffs of Lake Powell, which was inhabited for thousands of years by indigenous populations.

Rangers will touch upon the Hicks family whom initially developed the property, as well as Avondale Textile Mills, which ran a summer vacation destination for their employees and families for 40 years. Meet at the visitors center.
