Historic Wesley house at Eden Gardens State Park decorated for the holidays

Candlelight Tour slated for Dec. 18

Eden Gardens State Park and the Friends of Eden invite you to join them for a tour of the Wesley house this holiday season.

Each of the rooms of the historic house have been dressed up in Christmas cheer by local volunteers. The stairway and landing “A Sparkling Emerald Christmas” by Brenda Radtke and her helpers Sally Smith, Sandy Luchtefeld, Nancy McConnell, Ladie Bea Lackey and Nina Horn; “Christmas Tea in the Library” by the Historic Point Washington Association led by Linny Delahoussaye; “Happy Christmas to all and to all a Good Night” by the Seagrove Garden Club led by Sandy Simons doing the pink (lilac) bedroom; “Birds of Paradise” in the blue bedroom done by the Ladies of Windswept led by Marcia DeKok; “All is calm, all is Bright” in the sitting room by Karen Kolenberg and friends; “Sugar Plum Fairies in an Enchanted Forest” in the children’s bedroom by Cultural Arts Association led by Christine Burroughs; “Naturally Red” Bedroom was done by Tim Ryan of the Botaniq Floral Studio, “Santa Paws Porch” by Christina Flynn and Allison DeVaughn; “Dining Elegance at Eden” by the Point Washington United Methodist Women led by Kathy Carpenter; and “Coastal Victorian Christmas” in the parlor done by the Green Thumb Garden Club.

Tours of the Wesley House are available Thursday – Monday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., every hour on the hour. The house is closed Tuesday and Wednesday for maintenance. The park is open 7 days a week.

On Dec. 18, enjoy the Candlelight Tour from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., with a traditional walk through the luminaries to the Historic Wesley House to enjoy it’s beautifully seasonally decorated rooms and be greeted by Civil War re-enactors in period garb. After the tour is completed, the Friends of Eden will be providing refreshments in the pavilion and the reenactors will welcome you to the small encampment on the North lawn of the house beyond the Reflecting Pool. It’s an evening meant to be enjoyed by all who attend. Donations to the Friends of Eden Gardens are welcome and appreciated.
