Annual event gives children opportunity to go fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and Choctawhatchee Bay
Harbor Docks is hosting their 17th Annual Take-A-Kid-Fishing Day on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011. This annual event gives children a great opportunity to go fishing in the Gulf or Bay.
Schedule:
7 am: Sign-in and receive boat assignment
donuts and juice
(children must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian at time of sign-in)
8 a.m.: load boats
12:30 p.m.: boats get back to Harbor Docks
1 p.m.: family fish fry lunch and prizes for all children
General Information:
Children must be mature enough to go without a parent. Parents are not allowed to go unless registered as a chaperon. Available slots are for the children. this is not a parent and child even. Chaperons will be assigned one per every five children except in the case of special needs children.
Harbor Docks cannot reserve specific boats or placements of groups of individuals together.
Every boat will have at least one chaperon. They will have off-duty policemen and firemen from Destin, Ft. Walton, and the county working as chaperons as well as other professional groups. Note: Parents MAY be put on the list to be a chaperon, and if needed will be contacted to confirm at least two weeks prior to the date of the event. PARENTS WHO CHAPERON ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO BE PLACED ON THE SAME BOAT AS THEIR CHILDREN.
Boats are professional charter boats and have captains and mates on board.
Every child registered will receive a fishing rod and reel.
