Gator Thunder Charity Poker Run Oct. 12, 2012

Kiwanis Club of Freeport is hosting a charity poker run in Freeport Oct. 12, 2012. Proceeds benefit Children’s Advocacy Center of DeFuniak Springs. Registration is from 9 – 11:30 a.m. at Distinctive Cycles, 18291 US Hwy. 331 S, Freeport.

Last Bike in 3 p.m. at The Outpost, 4576 County Hwy 3280, Freeport. 1st Place $250, 2nd Place $100, 3rd Place $50, Worst Hand $25. Free goody bag for the 1st 200 registered riders.

The route for the Gator Thunder Poker Run will consist of 80 miles of primarily back-roads within Walton County. Included in the route are two Gator Tail sections of curvy and twisting roads. The ride will carry bikers through historic Euchee Valley, home of the Euchee Indians who were discovered there by the first Scottish settlers who came to live in the area.  The next major location on the ride is historic DeFuniak Springs.

A stop at the temporary location of the Children’s Advocacy Center will be included. Bikers who wish to do so will receive a guided tour of the facility. All riders will be given a CAC commemorative pin. DeFuniak Springs has a circular lake in the middle of town and the ride around the lake will present to the riders numerous Antebellum historical homes.

The Outpost will feature a live band, a bar and wide assortment of food. A 50/25/25 raffle will be conducted, door prizes will be distributed and winning poker hands will be announced.
