Parade, ornament making, Santa and more
Santa will arrive in Freeport via fire truck for the Town Planters Society of Freeport’s 2013 Christmas parade on Friday, Dec. 6. The parade theme this year is “Sounds of Christmas.” Lineup will be at Freeport Elementary School starting at 3 p.m. with the parade kicking off at 4 p.m. The parade route will follow Hwy. 331 S to Kylea Laird Dr. turning onto Hwy. 20 W continuing past City Hall and ending at Blueberry Rd. Bands from Freeport High School and South Walton High School will be marching in the parade as well as the Walton High School AFROTC Color Guard.
Following the parade, enjoy face painting, ornament making and story time with Mrs. Claus. At 6 p.m., enjoy the “Sounds of Christmas” at Freeport’s annual Christmas tree lighting at City Hall. Musical performances by Freeport Elementary School’s 4th Grade Show Choir, “The Sophisticats,” Discovery Time Daycare, choirs from local churches as well as various other musicians will lend their talents to the show. Concluding the musical portion of the program Miss Freeport 2013, Devin Herrington, and Little Miss Freeport 2013, Isabella Sanchez, will flip the switch to light Freeport’s beautiful Christmas tree. Refreshments will be served and of course the jolly old man himself, Santa Claus, will be there to listen to all the girls and boys wishes! Come join the festivities and “sing” in this Christmas season.
