Ted Foret, owner of Tree House Flowers (Tree House Farms) has been busy planting more than 28 million sunflower seeds of more than a dozen varieties. Using the method of succession planting, Foret hopes to harvest acres of sunflowers throughout the entire summer at his farm near the Choctawhatchee River.
Some of the flowers will be sold to area markets, along with Foret offering flowers to individuals who would like to come and clip their own. Profits from the sales will benefit Alaqua Animal Refuge.
