On Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 9:00 am, District 2 Commissioner Danny Glidewell will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Ghentsville park in Paxton. The ceremony will be held at 222 Clear Springs Road. The site is on the north side of Clear Springs Road, approximately .07 miles from Clear Springs Road/US 331 North intersection.
In December 2018 the Walton County Board of County Commissioners (WCBCC) approved a donation agreement of an approximately 90-acre parcel of land located on the northwest corner of US Hwy 331 North and Cedar Springs Road. On October 13, 2020, the WCBCC approved a Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) Funding agreement in the amount of $200,000.00 with DEP for the development of the park.
The new Ghentsville Park will include the following amenities:
- Parking Lot – 30 Spaces/2 handicap spaces
- Restrooms
- Two 50’ x 100’ basketball courts
- 40’ x 60’ playground
- Walking trails w/ exercise stations and dock
- Two 24’ x 24’ pavilions
According to Public Works, the majority of the work is being done in-house and should be completed in 2022.
