Filmmaker Elam Stoltzfus will be hosting a coastal dune lakes symposium and a sneak preview of his film “Coastal Dune Lakes – Jewels of Florida’s Emerald Coast,” on Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m. The event will be held at the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center in Freeport.
The symposium will begin with an exclusive sneak peek from the upcoming Public Television documentary featuring Walton County’s dune lakes, Coastal Dune Lakes: Jewels of Florida’s Emerald Coast, produced by Elam Stoltzfus. Dr. Errol Stock, a retired geoscientist from Griffith University in Australia specializing in coastal systems around the globe, will deliver a presentation on “Coastal Dune Lakes and Lagoons of the World.” This talk will be followed by “The Intracoastal Waterway, Humate Sand, and its Hypothetical Relation to Coastal Dune Lakes in South Walton County,” presented by Dr. Jon Bryan, a geologist from the Northwest Florida State College. The symposium will conclude with audience Q&A with Elam Stoltzfus, Dr. Errol Stock, and Dr. Jon Bryan.
