Local nature enthusiasts join in on film segment May 13

Nature documentary cinematographer Elam Stoltzfus has been in South Walton working on a documentary about Walton County’s treasured coastal dune lakes.

On May 13, Elam shot a segment for his film featuring kayaking on Western Lake. Expanding on his successful original short film shot a few years ago, Stoltzfus is now working on an expanded documentary, featuring interviews with local nature enthusiasts and historians. The new film will focus on the unique features of each lake.

Escorted by Murray Balkcom of Walco Eco Tours, local paddlers joined in a tour of Western Lake. Kayakers included Lynn Nesmith, Brandan Babineaux, Joshua Foreman, John Rosenberg, Herman Montero and Lori Ceier.

Elam and his company, Live Oak Productions create educational documentaries on Florida’s natural resources. Skillfully using his high definition video camera as a paintbrush, Elam creates stunning representations of Florida’s natural beauty.
