City of Freeport Christmas parade Dec. 1
The City of Freeport invites you to help ring in the Christmas season on Saturday, December 1, 2018. The annual parade and tree lighting ceremony will begin at 4:40 P.M. This event brings the whole community together with floats, fire trucks, bands, and of course, Santa Claus himself. Parade entries of all kinds (floats, golf carts, walkers, bicycles, motorcycles, horses, etc.) are invited to bring their renditions of “A Very Disney Christmas.” The parade will begin at Freeport Elementary School, travel south onto Kylea Laird Drive, turn west onto Hwy 20 and make its final destination at City Hall.
The festivities continue with the tree lighting program that includes a stage band, plus performances by local children’s fine arts groups. Vocal groups include The Sophistocats from FES and the FHS show choir. Dance numbers will be performed by groups from Premiere Performers Academy of the Arts and a solo performer from Inspire Ballet and Fine Arts.
Following the show there will be many family oriented activities, such as visiting with Santa, crafts for kids, a petting zoo, and food vendors. The Festival of Trees will open at the Freeport Community Center and will also be open the following day, December 2. Many beautiful trees, decorated by local businesses, will be on display for visitors to enjoy and everyone is encouraged to vote for their favorite.
