Christmas parade and tree lighting in Freeport Dec. 7

The City of Freeport’s annual Christmas parade and tree lighting is Dec. 7, 2019, beginning at 4:40 p.m. This year’s celebration is expected to be the largest ever held in Freeport.

This year’s parade theme is “Christmas Dreams.” State Senator George Gainer is the Grand Marshall. Other participants will include festively decorated floats, vehicles, horses, and marching bands.

Immediately following the parade, Mayor Barley will light the city’s Christmas tree and kick off a program featuring dance and musical numbers. Performers include dancers from the Premier Performers Dance Studio; Ms. Olivia Huff performing a solo ballet; Freeport Elementary School’s Sophisticats Singers; Freeport Middle School and Freeport High School Choirs; and, a live band.

Free children’s crafts and photo opportunity with Santa will be available. Vendors will offer food and drinks for sale.

The public is invited to watch the parade along its new route that begins at Freeport Elementary School,and will proceed south on Business Hwy. 331 then turn west onto Hwy. 20. Parade participants will pass in front of Freeport City Hall then turn north onto Blueberry Road. Parking is available at Destiny Worship Center and other locations on Business 331 as well as on Hwy. 20. The route will be closed to traffic during the parade.
