Northwest Florida Water Management District re-opens Devil’s Hole along Econfina Creek

The Northwest Florida Water Management District has re-opened Devil’s Hole, a popular recreation site located in Washington County and part of the Econfina Creek Water Management Area. District staff conducted shoreline restoration and protection activities at three eroded shoreline areas. Native tree and scrub species have been planted along these newly-restored areas. Autumn brings colorful wildflowers and butterflies to South Walton

Autumn is an extraordinary time to explore the outdoors in South Walton. The forest trails are awash in a colorful abundance of seasonal wildflowers and migrating butterflies. We are fortunate to have several State Parks along with the Point Washington State Forest in our own backyard. Learn to cast a net at Grayton Beach State Park July 29

Date/time: Wednesday, July 29th at 2:00 p.m. Join Ranger Rooster for a cast net fishing demonstration. Experience how to properly throw a cast net and learn what fish can be caught using the cast net. Participants will meet at the boat ramp parking area. Morrison Springs health advisory rescinded

June 30, 2015 Effective immediately, the Florida Department of Health in Walton County is rescinding the June 16, 2015 swim advisory for the Morrison Springs bathing place. DOH Walton feels that water quality in this area has improved considerably due to the reduction in bacteria levels.
