South Walton Community Council hosting annual beach clean up July 5

Time: 7 – 9 a.m. South Walton Community Council is hosting their annual July 5th beach cleanup along several South Walton beach accesses. Water, gloves and trash bags will be provided by the SWCC. In addition, SWCC is looking for coordinators at the access points to greet the beach access volunteers, pass out water, bags and gloves and record how many bags were collected. Perdido Key beach mice arrive at E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center

There are two new residents at the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center, and they are cute as can be. Two federally endangered Perdido Key beach mice (Peromyscus polionotus tryssyllepsis), have arrived at the Center to join in on the Center’s educational programs. Health advisory issued for Bayshore Drive area in the Choctawhatchee Bay

June 6, 2014 Walton County – Due to a sewage spill, the Florida Department of Health in Walton County (DOH-Walton) is issuing a health advisory for the Bayshore Drive and surrounding areas in the Choctawhatchee Bay. This health advisory is also issued for the unnamed lake off of Forest Shore Drive.
