CANCELED DUE TO RAIN… On Saturday, Feb. 13 join Bay County Audubon Society at Eden Gardens State Park. This is a combined birding/plant walk with members of the Sweetbay chapter of Florida Native Plant Society.
Eden Gardens is a 163-acre park featuring acres of very large, moss-covered oaks, camellias, azaleas and lots of other beautiful plants. Native plants are also featured. There is a nature trail that will be walked. The centerpiece of the park is the Wesley Mansion, a two-story house with columns built in 1897. It is open to limited tours.
Meet at 8:00 – 8:15 a.m. in the main parking lot. Bring a picnic lunch and drinks, as well as your cameras and binoculars. This picturesque park is on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. It is about 32 miles west of Panama City just off Hwy 98 on County Road 395. Turn right at the intersection and drive 1 mile to the park entrance. Due to Covid-19 restrictions we won’t be carpooling but those who feel safe with close friends or family may choose to do so. Please bring and wear a mask. Easy walking. The plan is to divide into two groups for those interested in birding or plant study.
