Enjoy a bird watching field trip with the Bay County Audubon.
Saturday, March 15 – Birdsong Nature Center near Thomasville, Ga. This is a joint field trip with members of the local chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society, who will be interested in the very popular native plant sale, but birders will appreciate the good birding on the nature trails there. Meet at the Panama City Mall, by Starbuck’s at 6:00AM to depart at 6:10 sharp.
Saturday, March 22 – Field trip to the Audubon Laidlaw Preserve near Vernon. Come and enjoy this 280-acre property and see what Audubon volunteers have done there. The native azaleas should be in full bloom and the birding is always good. Meet at Porter Park, which is the park and boat landing in Lynn Haven at the foot of the Bailey Bridge. Arrive at 7 a.m. to depart at 7:10 a.m. If you prefer to meet in Vernon, go to the roadside park on the north side of the bridge over Holmes Creek. We should be there by around 7:45. The Laidlaw property is just a few miles north of there on Hwy 79. Bring a sack lunch to eat at the shelter overlooking Pam’s Pond.
Saturday, March 29 – Panama City Beach Conservation Park bird walk. The birding should be very good, so join us on this short, easy walk through various habitats. The park is located off Hwy 98 about 1 mile west of Hwy 79. Starting time is 7:30 a.m. Binoculars will be available if needed.
