Alaqua Animal Refuge taking over management
Dog lovers and friends of the Bark Park in Santa Rosa Beach can now rejoice, as the popular off-leash dog park is slated to reopen in the next few days.
Under an agreement with Walton County set to be finalized at the County Commission meeting on Apr. 12., Alaqua Animal Refuge will take over the Bark Park’s management. The park owned by the County has been closed since the end of January.
The park will be expanding 20 acres, and offer canine classes such as obedience and agility, canine events and an Airstream concession.
“I’m very excited about the park’s plans,” said Laurie Hood, founder of Alaqua Animal Refuge.

August 28, 2011GREAT! Our dogs love to visit the Bark Park when we were in Destin. We were so disappointed when we visited in March and found it closed. We’ll be back next week so our trip will be complete since we will have a place to take our dogs for a play day!
