Thursday April 7, 2022 – Presentation: ALASKA – BIRDS OF THE FAR NORTH COUNTRY
Malcolm Swan and Shannon Hobson will present recent videos and photographs of spectacular birds, Kodiak Bear cubs, and sea mammals observed during their 2021 trip to Pt. Barrow, Nome, Kodiak Island, and Seward. The program will be held in Room 130 of the Student Services Center at Northwest Florida State College main campus in Niceville. Socializing begins at 6:30 PM, and the program begins at 7:00 pm. Admission is free and open to the interested public. Call or e-mail TBD for more information.
Saturday, April 9, 2022 – SATURDAY MORNING FIELD TRIP to Veterans Park, Okaloosa Island. Malcolm Swan (210)-452-4899 leads this trip. We visit bay shore, barrier island woodland, and 5 wetlands. Meet 7:30 am in the NE corner of the Emerald Coast Convention Center parking lot. Wear closed-toed shoes, binoculars and/or camera, and perhaps a hat.
May 6-8, 2022 (FRI evening, all-day SAT, SUN morning), MEMBERS RETREAT to Sweetwater Wetlands Park and Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park (both South of Gainesville). Leader Malcolm Swan (850)452-4899. Contact Margaret Benner for retreat information: mlbenner@cox.net.
May 14, 2022 – SATURDAY FIELD TRIP to Eglin Piney Woods for Red-cockaded Woodpeckers and other specialties of tall and frequently-burned pine forest. Leader: Malcolm Swan 210`452`4899 to text. Meet 7:30 am at the Eglin AFB Armament Museum parking lot, 100 Museum Dr, Eglin AFB. Search for Bachman’s Sparrow and Red-cockaded Woodpecker. Go online to purchase a Jackson-Guard Pass for Eglin Reservation prior to this date. The physical office is open weekdays until 4:30 at Eglin Jackson Guard office 107 Hwy 85 North, in Niceville.
