November 25, 2012

Encaustic paintings by Melissa Davis will be featured at Amavida art show.

Encaustic painting and photography works focus on South Walton nature

On Friday evening November 30, Amavida Coffee Shop, 103 N. Barrett Square, Rosemary Beach will be hosting an opening night reception to kick-off their latest art exhibit. The show will showcase the works of two local artists – Melissa Davis and landscape photographer Jamie Conley. The reception will be held from 7 – 9 p.m. and is open to the public. There will be live music and complimentary hors d’oeuvres at the opening. The exhibit will continue throughout the month of December.

Landscape photography by Jamie Conley will be featured during the Amavida art show through December.

Longtime artist and yoga instructor, Melissa Davis will be highlighting her latest works and newest artistic passion, painting in encaustic. Davis is well known for her abstract impressionistic art inspired by the soft coastal palettes found along the beaches of 30A. In addition to being featured in art shows, Melissa works with interior designers to create custom pieces for clients. Her artwork graces many homes and businesses across the Southeastern U.S.

Melissa Davis has been a resident of South Walton for thirty years. When she is not in her art studio you can find her in the yoga studio teaching classes at Balance Health Studio and Rosemary Beach Fitness. Contact Davis at (850) 865-9863

The photography portion of the Amavida exhibit will feature 30A’s newest landscape photographer Jamie Conley. Conley began photographing the beaches, coastal dune lakes and nature areas several years ago to fill a need for stock photographs in her marketing work at local real estate company, Davis Properties. Jamie has been photographing the beaches of South Walton and Northwest Florida’s gulf coast for more than six years. On any given day you’ll most likely see Conley, with camera in hand, walking the beaches, stopped alongside Hwy. 30A or strolling through one of area beach towns taking photographs. The ever changing beauty found along the beach, the area’s coastal dune lakes or the local Florida State Parks are a source of constant inspiration for her work.

You can view a collection of black & white canvas images on permanent display at Davis Properties of NW Florida, Inc. at 4130 Scenic Hwy. 30A, Seagrove Beach. For more information, go to www.jconleyimages.com.
