Eight new campsites now open
Located at the eastern end of Seven Runs Creek, just north of Bruce, there is a waterway area called Dead River which slowly opens up into the Choctawhatchee River.
Dead River Landing park is a beautiful spot offering panoramic views of large bald cypress trees along the wetlands. The park offers a boat ramp, ample parking, and now has 16 RV/tent camping areas with picnic tables, grills, and fire rings. Eight sites large enough for RVs and trailers, and eight smaller sites offering tent pads. There are two picnic pavilions at each campsite area with grills, and a portable toilet. There are no electrical hookups in the park. Cost: Free. You must make reservations with Northwest Florida Water Management by clicking here or calling 850-539-5999.
Dead River Landing is also slated to become part of the proposed Choctawhatchee River Paddling Trail, and is part of the Choctawhatchee River Wildlife Management Area. It is managed by Northwest Florida Water Management District.
It is a popular location for fishing and hunting. The landing is located at the end of Dead River Road. ::MAP::
