Forum to focus on oil spill impact
Date/Time: Wednesday April, 25, 2012, 7 p.m.
Guest Speaker: Professor Richard Snyder, Director, Center for Environmental Diagnostics and Bioremediation of the Department of Biology at the University of West Florida.
Two years after the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, what’s happened to the oil and what’s the impact on our Gulf Coast environmental treasures? Professor Snyder will address these questions and also explore the spill as a major ecological and economic event that highlighted the way we, as a society, from governmental agencies to private citizens, respond to environmental issues, especially emergency situations.
Last April, Professor Snyder gave an educational and informative presentation to an overflow audience of SWCC members and guests on the environmental effects of the Deepwater Horizon spill one year after the blowout. The SWCC has invited Professor Snyder back to give us an update and discuss lessons learned.
Open to the public and free of charge; Wednesday, April 25th, at 7 p.m. at the Walton County Coastal Branch Library.
