“Talking Trash” with Longleaf Laura

Time: 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Come and see how Waste Management and the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center have teamed up to make a difference in our environment.  Longleaf Laura is the waste and recycling expert at the Center. She will discuss the waste stream, energy production and the reuse of recycled materials in fun and interactive ways, including:
• How a landfill is constructed
• Ways to divert waste from landfills
• Landfill gas-to-energy and waste-to-energy
• What is recyclable and what is not
• “Take the Pledge” to recycle
• Organics

About the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center:
The E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center offers education on a better understanding of our environment; with its focus on the importance of biodiversity, ecosystems, conservation, preservation and restoration of our natural resources.
 Each weekend, the Center will focus on a different theme, featuring specialized programs such as birds of prey, remnants of a forest, gopher tortoises and nature based movies.
Admission is $5 per person.
 Children ages 6 to 12 are $2.
Children 5 and under are free.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Open Saturdays 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
