Free event includes activities and barbecue

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Walton County is having a Day for Kids event on Sat. Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., at the Freeport Regional Sports Complex at Hammock Bay.

Freeport Fire Department, McGruff the Crime Dog, Nonie’s Ark baby petting zoo, live entertainment, Play-Dough station, art showcase, face painting, pick-up kickball games, and more will be offered at this free event.

Day for Kids is celebrated nationally throughout Boys and Girls Clubs of America and an event to appreciate families spending the day together and enjoying meaningful quality time.

Competitive barbecue teams from around the region will compete in two categories (chicken and ribs). Some of the teams will be offering their barbecue for sale. Teams will arrive at 7 a.m., and cook throughout the day. All proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast.
