Public invited to attend the moment of silence
To commemorate the (10) ten year anniversary of the attacks of September 11th, the South Walton Fire District will pause for a moment of silence Sunday September 11, 2011.
Special t-shirts were purchased, at no cost to the Fire District, and will be worn by members of SWFD to honor the 343 firefighters that sacrificed their lives that day in addition to the thousands of innocent lives that were lost.
“Each of us knows where we were, what we saw, what we felt and the profound impact September 11, 2001 had on us all. We are honored to take a few moments to remember those that went to work that day knowing the risks, their sense of duty and their commitment and the families who expected them to come home,” said Chief Rick Talbert.
In memory and honor of those who died as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and in observance of Patriot Day, Governor Rick Scott has requested that all federal, state, county, and city government-owned buildings within the state of Florida fly the flags of the United States and the state of Florida at half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Sept. 11, 2011.
