Northwest Florida Water Festival in Ebro Mar. 26, 2011

March 22, 2011

Enjoy a day of exploring our most important resource: Water

10 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Ebro Town Center

The Florida Audubon Society is hosting a special event on Saturday, March 26 to celebrate the sources and sustainable uses of abundant clean water in our area. The Northwest Florida Water Festival will be a fun and free event for the entire family with water-related activities taking place in and around Ebro.

At the Festival you can learn about the importance of protecting water supplies; experience the springs, lakes, creeks and wetlands of the local area; visit places that make Northwest Florida special and get up close with plants and animals from the area.

The public can come to the Ebro Town Center anytime from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the day of the Festival and talk with representatives from environmental and other community groups including Walton Outdoors, Florida state parks, the Native Plant Society, the Florida Trails Association, Seacrest Wolf Preserve, Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance and the Bay County Audubon Society, among others.

Kids will also have an opportunity to see and feel some local “critters,” including snakes, a wolf cub and a touch tank of marine life. At the Town Center, you can sign up for one of three water activities taking place in the area: kayaking on the Chain of Lakes with Walton Outdoors; a guided walking tour along one of Florida’s marked trails; and a “bog” walk where you will learn to identify the plants and animals that live in or near the water.

For more information on the event, or if you want to participate with a display, call Judi Spann at (850)681-3200.
