Autumn brings colorful wildflowers and butterflies to South Walton

Autumn is an extraordinary time to explore the outdoors in South Walton. The forest trails are awash in a colorful abundance of seasonal wildflowers and migrating butterflies. We are fortunate to have several State Parks along with the Point Washington State Forest in our own backyard. The pine flatwoods, coastal dunes, and salt marsh, our area of the Florida Panhandle is a magnet for migrating butterflies heading south for the winter. Audubon bird walk at Conservation Park Oct. 14

The Bay County Audubon will be hosting a bird walk at Conservation Park in Panama City Beach Oct. 14.  The walk will be from 7:30 – 9 a.m. Enjoy a leisurely morning walk around the trails of the Panama City Beach Conservation Park guided by the Bay county Audubon. Walton County Fair in Defuniak Springs Oct. 5 – 10, 2015

The Walton County Fair, a tradition since 1924, kicks off six days of family fun on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015. Sticking to its roots as an agricultural fair, there will be livestock competitions every day including rabbit, poultry, hog, horse, lamb, goat and cattle shows.
