Polar Express headed for DeFuniak Springs Nov. 28

The Polar Express, a 2004 computer animated musical Christmas fantasy will be shown on Friday evening, November 28, 2014, at 7 PM on Baldwin Avenue between Seventh and Eighth Streets in downtown DeFuniak Springs. Family Movie Night is a feature of the DeFuniak Springs Special Events Committee and is provided free of charge. This event is also sponsored by Monarch Aviation. Nutcracker ballet comes to Seaside Nov. 22

The Merchants of Seaside will host the Nutcracker ballet to be performed by Northwest Florida dancers and Alpharetta Dance Theatre. The one-time performance is free and open to the public Saturday, Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. in the Seaside Amphitheater. The performance is under the direction of Rose Barile, an honor graduate of Juilliard School and former Prima Ballerina of the Atlanta Ballet, who danced Sugar Plum Fairy for decades. Florida lifetime sportsman license costs for youth reduced Nov. 24 – Dec. 31, 2014

On Nov. 13, 2014, Governor Rick Scott signed an executive order authorizing the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to offer Lifetime Sportsman’s Licenses for Florida children and young adults at a greatly reduced cost. The license now costs up to $1000 but from Nov. 24 through Dec. 31, 2014, the price will be reduced to $500 for Florida residents who are 21-years-old and younger. South Walton Fire District is once again sponsoring the Caring and Sharing “Angel Tree.” Each holiday season the “Angel Tree” is filled with names of children throughout Walton County that otherwise may not receive Christmas gifts without your assistance.
