FWC sets 2013 Gulf recreational red snapper season in state waters to 44 days

Season to run June 1 – July 14 The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approved a 44-day recreational red snapper season for Gulf of Mexico state waters at its meeting April 17 in Tallahassee. State waters are from shore to 9 nautical miles in Gulf waters. This season will start June 1 and end July 14. It is inconsistent with the current proposed federal season. Fishing is great! Choctawhatchee Bay: Trout and redfish biting on shrimp. Further to the east of us folks are reeling in flounder biting on bull minnows. 
Creeks/river: Nice reports of shellcracker starting to bite along with good reports of bass in the area ponds. In shore: The cobia bite has been the best in five years. Walton County to host fixed price yard sale and silent auction of surplus April 27

In an effort to rid the county of surplus items and free up space in county facilities, Walton County will be hosting a fixed price yard sale on Saturday, April 27 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the County Landfill located at Highway 83 North, four miles outside of DeFuniak Springs by the State Prison.  Prices will be reduced at 10 a.m. for any remaining items that are unsold.
