Walton County fishing report for Aug. 23

Fishing is great Choctawhatchee Bay: East end of the Bay folks reeling in black drum and some redfish. West end much clearer with good trout and flounder, even some silver trout being caught. Creeks/river: High water in the river making catfish fishing good. Offshore: Good offshore fishing overall. Some reeling in pompano. Hunting: Folks are warming up for bow season. UPDATE: August 23: Health Advisory for Grayton Beach only August 22, 2012 – The Walton County Health Department conducts regularly scheduled saltwater beach water quality monitoring at seven sites through the Healthy Beaches Monitoring Program. The water samples are being analyzed for enteric bacteria (enterococci) that normally inhabit the intestinal tract of humans and animals, which may cause human disease, infections, or rashes. Nice black drum reeled in at Tucker Bayou

Walton county resident Todd Hall reeled in a nice size black drum around 10 a.m. on Aug. 18. The drum was caught off the CR395 dock at Tucker Bayou in Point Washington. “I caught it using live shrimp from Copeland’s, circle hook 2/0, 10 lb. braid with 30 lb. leader, and 1 oz. weight.
