Red snapper season in Gulf extended 6 days

Last day of season July 16 The federal and state recreational red snapper season in Gulf of Mexico waters has been extended six days. Hands Across the Sand coming to Santa Rosa Beach Aug. 4

The global movement “Hands Across the Sand” will be gathering at Noon on Aug. 4 to bring awareness of the dangers of offshore drilling. Locally, the gathering will be at 12 Noon along the beach in Seaside and at Ed Walline Park at the south end of CR393 in Santa Rosa Beach. Summit for Heroes ceremony held at Lakewood Park

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office hosted the annual Summit for Heroes ceremony at Lakewood Park June 30, 2012. Summit for Heroes honors law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty. Teams across the country climb the highest point in each state in memory of these heroes.
